Baby Mama stars Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. The story revolves around a successful, single businesswoman who now decides to have a life and a baby of her own only to find out that she is infertile. Because of this, she hires a woman to be her surrogate.
I haven’t watched this movie yet but based from the synopsis I think it is a good one. At the end of the synopsis it says the characters will discover two kinds of family: the one you’re born to and the one you make. I believe that viewers will learn and have learned a lot from this movie. Currently it is in number 5 with a total gross of $47,256,000.

This movie has, for the first time, two of the best Chinese actors in world history, Jet Li and Jackie Chan as its main cast. It is the first time for the two martial arts experts to work together in a movie and I believe everybody is expecting so much from them. Anyway, there is no need to worry as the two actors are very talented. I also believe that martial arts movie fan have been anticipating the tandem of the two actors for a long time now and now that their dreams have come true, I’m sure they’re not disappointed. The Forbidden Kingdom is currently in 9th place with a total gross of $50,295,000.

Harry Potter Gears for another round at the Box Office

Monday, December 15th, 2008

Announcing the delay last year of the moving of the release date for the next installment of the Harry Potter film franchise was a disappointment to many. This installment is hailed to be the second to the last but plans saying that the last movie is to be split into two may give some insight at the power the Harry Potter series has over the movie world.
Hailed a phenomenon with its young actors taking over the record books as the youngest and biggest earning young stars in the whole world, having grown into their roles what fitting reward. The film franchise may not be the world’s top grossing but with a total of six or seven films under their belts, this may be one of the most successful franchises ever taking their place besides Star Wars and Batman Movie series as the highest grossing movies of all time.

The Mummy Wakes – Again!

Monday, September 29th, 2008

I admit, I am a major fan of Brendan Fraser, and I loved the previous two Mummy films. Being a very gullible person, moreover, I was fascinated by the reincarnation and soulmates plot the previous films sported. With all that, I admit I was initially apprehensive about this new installment, since Rachel Weisz was replaced by Maria Bello. And they were portraying middle-aged couples, with their son Alex (Luke Ford) old enough to have his own love interest.

Well, the story was slow and dragging at first, but the presence of Jet Li as always quickened the pace. I liked the new direction, West meets East, the way they blended Hollywood style shoot-em-ups with Kung-fu paced movies. I’m also a fan of Chinese kung-fu movies, and love Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh, so those were pluses. I also think this third film had a lot of funnier moments than the first two. All in all, i’d say this movie will make it to my collection of DVDs.

Hollywood Movie Fresh from internet, not on theatres.

Via Digital Inspiration, you just learned about MovieLink, a great new service and provision where you can download major Hollywood movies. The site is not well-matched with Firefox; which stinks, since according to Market Share Firefox is now in control of 10% of the browser market. You need to have the latest version of Internet Explorer to play with it – if you don’t have it, you can download Internet Explorer.

Anyway, back to MovieLink. What is it and how does it work? From the site:

“Movielink is changing the way America rents and purchases movies. No more trips to the video store. No DVDs to carry or return. Just fast, easy, legal movie downloads direct from the studios that you can watch at home or on the road.”

There’s two ways to watch these movies: you can rent them for up to 30 days or you can out and out buy them. And there’s nothing to pick up or mail or any of that mess; you’re downloading them to your computer. Prices start at 8.99 and go up from there.

People can be so zealous about movies sometimes and be in dire need of box office updates. If you are one of them, movie sites may help you know the latest movies leading in the box office and some of the movies that are about to make it on the list. In a way, it is helpful to know what movies are leading so you’ll know what movies are worth seeing. One of the sites I visit is movies.com and from there I get the latest scoop on the movies included on the top 12 list and some of the movies that are yet to make it on top.

What Happens in Vegas?

This movie has Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher as its main cast. I don’t really have an idea about this movie but I heard that it is fun to watch. Besides, who wouldn’t like Cameron and Ashton, right? I believe they’re both great actors. I can’t forget Cameron in her performance in the movie There’s Something about Mary. She was really great there, really funny. Meanwhile I can’t forget Ashton’s naughtiness in MTV’s Punked. Both of them were great individually and to make them a tandem is great. Currently, What Happens in Vegas? is on the number three spot dropping from number 2 last week. It has a total gross of $40,308,000.

Go!

One of the movies that I would really like to see this year but failed to do so is Speed Racer. Actually, the only reason I would like to see it is because it has in its cast my favorite Korean actor/singer Rain and I would really like to know how he did in this movie. Anyway, I believe Speed Racer has satisfied its fans because based from what I’ve heard from friends, it is a good movie, family oriented and is really nice. However, it is currently in fourth place in the Box Office having a total gross of $24,367,000.
